Meet Our Doctor

  • Dr. Rachel Chatters is a Board-Certified Pediatrician, with more than 20 years of experience, specializing in pediatrics and adolescent medicine.  As a leader in her field, she is concerned with the physical, emotional, and social health of children from birth to young adulthood. The care she provides at Chatters Pediatrics encompasses a broad spectrum of health services, ranging from preventative healthcare to the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.
     

    Dr. Chatters is a graduate of the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Medicine. After completing her pediatric internship and residency at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans in affiliation with LSUHSC New Orleans in 1999, she began practicing pediatrics in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Dr. Chatters continuously strives to improve the health of the children she serves.  She has shown her leadership by serving as a Preceptor for William Carey University Osteopathic School of Medicine, as the President, and as a board member of the Family and Youth Counseling for many years. She has also served in other roles throughout her years in practice, such as Pediatric Section Chief and Medical Staff President at Christus Ochsner Lake Area Hospital, and as the President of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  As a single practice physician, she started Chatters Pediatrics in 2003, where she has won the Patients Choice Award for several years and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition award.  Dr. Chatters and her husband, Benard have raised their four daughters and one son in the Lake Charles area and are currently enjoying their first granddaughter.
     

    As a board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Chatters is a member of the Medical Staff with privileges to attend to newborns and admit children and infants past the newborn period at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital- Gautier Campus and Christus Ochsner Lake Area Hospital (formerly known as Women’s and Children’s Hospital). She is also affiliated with Lake Charles Memorial Hospital-Main Campus and Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
